Red Carpet Club, Heathrow.

16.15

Hooray! Cattle Class is oversold & I have a complementary upgrade to Business Class. This is a result of tolerating boobies on many, many long-haul United flights.

Hooray! again. Dread has been hovering for most of Sunday & all of today, prior to the upgrade. In the best of times, long-haul at the back of the 'plane gets to me nowadays. It takes energy to get psyched & prepared. The present condition of my back renders a small, uncomfortable seat in crowded conditions more problematic even than usual.

Hooray! once more. Air stewards & stewardesses will now pretend to be pleased to see me as I stride on broad & stretch out gently in a seat of acceptable dimernsions. Already, I am oozing gratitude for this mercy.

Interesting arising of the morning: T's new book is being excerpted in the Daily Telegraph today (and tomorrow). An interview she gave to the Daily Express, for publication promised to follow the excerpting in The Telegraph, was instead published today. Presumably, this was intended as a spoiler by the Express. The headline on the Express' front page: Diary Of A Facelift - How It Saved My Marriage.

This tosh is even more impressive because the interview inside is positive & with no hint or mention of difficulty in the marriage that, presumably, caused T's cosmetic surgery. So, why have a front-page headline that bears no relationship to the truth?

23.51 Hotel Acceptable, Lebanon, NJ.

A good flight, and a good ride here other than the last 30 minutes – the hotel took advantage of the dark and hid from the driver, out here in the sticks of Jersey.
